Statement from the Artist
As a lifelong cat lover, black cats have always had a special place in my heart. Wrongly associated with evil throughout history, more people have had a harder time warming up to them than other varieties of cats. I've been heartened to see an increased appreciation for black cats in recent years, though. Perhaps being re-branded as "mini panthers" is really having an effect. I'm glad more people are coming to appreciate the extra dose of mystery and allure of black cats. My sweet boy BB was the model for both of the paintings I've submitted to this show.
