"Los Angeles, CA. Carach are one of my favorite black metal bands both musically and aesthetically, so when we finally had a chance to work together I knew I wanted to go all out, but timing that day was kinda tight. For this shoot I wasnt just photographing Carach Angren, I was photographing Rotting Christ, CA, Uada, and Gaerea all before doors opened up at the 1720. So time was extremely limited and it was tough as bands had to get into make up and stage clothes much earlier in the day for the shoot. I photographed Uada first, next up were Carach and while time was tight we shot for about 45m when all four shoots lasted about 2 hours combined total. Carach not only had their incredible corpse paint but also these awesome masks to shoot in, so we did a bunch of sets of photos using both make up and masked shots, this is one of my absolute favorites. I usually edit around 5-10 photos per shoot as needed for whatever the shoot is for, sometimes more if needed. This shoot I think I edited about 140 shots. I was SO into how these photos turned out, it was impossible to pick favorites and I just decided to edit the majority of what I liked most, this being one of the top shots. I often say that my job as a photographer is to make it difficult for a band/artist/whoevers in front of my lens, to choose their favorite images, and if they can EASILY choose their favorites, I didnt do my job well. This was a instance of the tables being turned on me. I love this shoot." Jeremey Saffer
